Israeli official: Swine flu name offensive to Judaism and Islam

The outbreak of swine flu should be renamed “Mexican” influenza in deference to Muslim and Jewish sensitivities over pork, said an Israeli health official Monday.
Deputy Health Minister Yakov Litzman said the reference to pigs is offensive to both religions and “we should call this Mexican flu and not swine flu,” he told a news conference at a hospital in central Israel.
Nice to see the men of god have their priorities right.

I say we rename it to pig-swine-boar-warthog flu… just try and get as many variations of the term ‘pig’ into the name as possible.
wait… “swine flu” is offensive to Muslims and Jews… but “Mexican Flu” isn’t offensive to Mexicans? Or is it just okay to offend Mexicans? If its not okay to even refer to the existence of pigs, shouldn’t we not refer to the existence of Mexicans in deference to the sensibilities of the Anti-Immigration movement?
